about Karen / BOVARII

I am Karen Verresen, a singer, artist, and entrepreneur. Under the name BOVARII, I create work at the intersection of music, visual art, performance, and atmosphere.

Music and art have been part of my life from an early age. What began with singing and performing gradually developed into a broad artistic practice, ranging from concerts and music for theatre to visual art, graphic design, and multidisciplinary performances.

Over the years, I have collaborated with a wide range of musicians, artists, and performers. I have co-written music for theatre productions and other artists, released my own work, and developed projects in which music, imagery, and experience come together. Through Bar d’Amour, I bring together artists from different disciplines in intimate, layered performances. I also founded the graphic design studio Art Dokus.

I hold a master’s degree in Communication Sciences from KU Leuven, a background that has helped shape my interest in people, communication, and the ways in which we create meaning.

In recent years, my work has deepened further into the realms of intuition, symbolism, astrology, and consciousness. This is not a departure from what I did before, but a natural expansion. In music, visual art, and performance, I have always been drawn to resonance, timing, atmosphere, and what can be felt beneath the surface. BOVAION now gives these elements a broader form.

BOVAION is the field surrounding BOVARII: a space where art, voice, astrological readings, creative workshops, and reflection come together. A place where craftsmanship, intuition, and meaning meet.

Artistic Background

Karen won the Baccara Cup at a young age and was later selected as the only Belgian finalist in the International Young Jazz Singers Competition. Her debut album received widespread acclaim from the national press. She has worked or shared the stage with artists including Raf Walschaerts, Pieter Embrechts, Gunther Neefs, Mario Goossens, David Poltrock, Dré Pallemaerts, Bruno De Groote, Simon Casier, Sam Vloemans, Sal La Rocca, and Jef Neve.
